In 1959, Monsignor Joseph Bodnar not only wanted to serve his parishioners in their spiritual needs, but also provide them a means of improving their economic and social conditions.  By his encouragement and effort, a charter was granted on March 31, 1960 allowing the parishioners of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic parish to establish what was known as St. Mary's Federal Credit Union.

As this credit union grew, the charter was expanded in 1979 to include neighboring Byzantine parishes.  The parishes added to the charter were St. Joseph, St. Stephen, Holy Spirit and the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.  In July of 2005, the board of directors unanimously voted to officially change the name to the Byzantine Catholic Federal Credit Union.

As we turn the page and look to the future, we will looking back at our rich history and those who have made this credit union a success.  We will be updating this history page in the near future.
